The cone behind is a clean triangle, which is what a mountain looks like once it has finished. What's torn is the edge of the field it threw out. The tidy shape is the cause and the ragged one is the consequence, and they have been sitting here together for a very long time.

This series is printed on 200 gsm matte paper, and that is a deliberate choice rather than a default. The work is built from three flat inks and a halftone dot rather than from brushwork — a woven surface would break the dot apart, while a smooth sheet holds every edge exactly where it was cut, and every torn edge exactly where it tore.

Shipped unframed. Any frame shown in the photographs is there to show scale and is not included.
