The horizon runs dead straight across the middle and the road refuses to agree with it. It comes in at one corner, gives up somewhere right of centre, and it is the torn thing here. A road is the one part of open country that somebody chose.

This series is printed on 200 gsm matte paper, and that is a deliberate choice rather than a default. The work is built from three flat inks and a halftone dot rather than from brushwork — a woven surface would break the dot apart, while a smooth sheet holds every edge exactly where it was cut, and every torn edge exactly where it tore.

Shipped unframed. Any frame shown in the photographs is there to show scale and is not included.
