The leaf is dark green on one face and pale silver on the other, so a whole grove changes colour when the wind turns. It is the kind of thing you only notice if you stay a while. Most of what is worth seeing works that way.

This series is printed on canvas, and that is a deliberate choice rather than a default. The work was conceived as painting — built in thick passages and thin scraped washes — and a woven surface holds that the way a flat sheet cannot. Light catches the weave unevenly, the way it does on a real canvas, so the piece stops reading as a reproduction and starts reading as an object.
