White walls at the end of the rows, small enough to cover with a thumb. Someone is inside, or will be by evening, and all the ground between here and there is theirs to walk. Every landscape is somebody's back garden.

This series is printed on canvas, and that is a deliberate choice rather than a default. The work was conceived as painting — built in thick passages and thin scraped washes — and a woven surface holds that the way a flat sheet cannot. Light catches the weave unevenly, the way it does on a real canvas, so the piece stops reading as a reproduction and starts reading as an object.
