Cloth on a line, breathing with the wind off the water. Nobody is here, and yet someone clearly is — someone who woke early, who lives close to the sea, who will be back. Presence without a person in it.

This series is printed on canvas, and that is a deliberate choice rather than a default. The work was conceived as painting — built in thick passages and thin scraped washes — and a woven surface holds that the way a flat sheet cannot. Light catches the weave unevenly, the way it does on a real canvas, so the piece stops reading as a reproduction and starts reading as an object.
